As the (unofficial) election campaign hots up I took a look at the Paddy Power website to see what there are saying about the next General Election – and here is what I found. To become the next Taoiseach: Bertie Ahern 1/3, Enda Kenny 2/1, Brian Cowen 14/1 Micheal Martin 25/1, Mary Hanafin and Pat Rabbitte 40/1. Who will form the next Government: FF/PDs 2/1, FG/Lab/Greens 9/4, FF/Lab 7/2, FF/Green 11/2, FF/SF 9/1, FG/Lab 10/1, FF/Fg 16/1, FG/LabPDs 20/1. If Enda Kenny does not succeed in becoming Taoiseach Paddy Power is quoting odds on who will be the next FG leader and Roscommon TD Denis Naughten is second favourite. The betting is: Richard Bruton 13/8, Denis Naughten 3/1, Simon Coveney 5/1, Phil Hogan 5/1, Mairead McGuinness 7/1.
