ICSA anticipate price rises

ICSA Beef Chairman Robin Smith has advised beef farmers that the possibility of a scarcity of beef in the spring could lead to a much-needed rise in cattle prices. ‘We are hearing whispers that the possibility of sourcing beef in other EU countries has already been investigated, in preparation for an expected drop in Irish cattle numbers, and Irish farmers may well find themselves in a stronger bargaining position.’ ‘With regards to the importation of beef, ICSA warns anyone involved that they must adhere to the Country of Origin (beef) regulations or face the consequences.’
