Local Irish Countrywomen’s Association guilds will host a Flower and Craft Festival over the May Bank Holiday weekend (April 28th to May 1st) at St Mel’s Cathedral in Co. Longford.
The official opening will be conducted by Fr Michael McGrath on Friday, April 28th at 6 pm and refreshments will be served afterwards in the Temperance Hall Civic Suite.
The cathedral will be open on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10 am to 6 pm with events taking place right through the weekend.
Saturday’s highlights include Craft Fair and Demonstrations, a gardening talk by Laura Shaw (Longford Garden Centre), a visit from Helena Golden of Willow Weaving, and a painting demonstration by Mary Gray.
Sunday will see a showcase by Sandra Bogan from Crafts of Ireland and a talk and demonstration by Treel Nurseries at the HQ Unit in the Old Barracks (N39 EA43).
The festival will close on Monday, May 1st with a talk by Derek Healy from Creations Garden Centre and a Family Fun Day at the Old Barracks with Mary’s Meals.
