Connacht Senior Hurling League: Roscommon v Leitrim (on Saturday at 2 pm in Annaduff, Co. Leitrim. Note change of venue) Roscommon hurlers continue their preparations for the forthcoming National League campaign with a Connacht Shield game against Leitrim in Annaduff on Saturday at 2 pm. Following their battling display against the Galway Development Squad in Tremane last Saturday, David McConn will again be fielding an experimental and young Roscommon side. Of the more experienced players, David Connell, Liam Murray, Mike Keaveney, Mervyn Connaughton, Gerry Fallon and Shane Sweeney were all very prominent last Saturday and they can all expect to feature again this weekend. Several members of last year’s successful U-21 panel have been drafted in for these games and another competitive outing will do these inexperienced players a world of good. Players like Enda Morris, Mark McLoughlin, Shane Curley, Keith McDermott, Cathal Kelly and Kenny Doolin can all expect to play some part against a Leitrim side who will put up a spirited resistance. Even though Roscommon are very short of players at the moment, they should be good enough to win this game and give themselves another game in this competition (the Shield Final) and thus further preparation for the forthcoming league campaign, which starts on February the 10th.
