Nicky Rackard Cup (4th round): Roscommon v Tyrone on Saturday in Dr Hyde Park at 2 pm
Roscommon hurlers can secure a place in the final of the Nicky Rackard Cup when they face Tyrone at Dr Hyde Park on Saturday. With one game to go (against Fermanagh) after this weekend, Francis O’Halloran’s men know that they have a great opportunity to secure a place in the decider at the end of the month.
Both sides are unbeaten, Tyrone having an unblemished record, with wins against Fermanagh, Armagh and Warwickshire behind them. After wins against Warwickshire and Armagh, Roscommon drew with Donegal in their last outing. Tyrone still have to play Roscommon and Donegal.
When the sides met earlier in the year in the league it ended up in a draw so there is evidently not much between the teams. Roscommon will be hoping that Cathal Dolan and Peter Kellehan will be able to play some part in the match and with home advantage a decided help, hopes will be high that Roscommon can get over the line.
Tyrone have proven tough opponents for Roscommon in recent years, but if Daniel Glynn, Mickey Joe Egan, Brendan Mulry and Cathal Dolan can get enough ball up front, I believe Roscommon can edge it by a few points.
