Huge giveaway at fabulous new Duffy’s SuperValu

A new state-of-the art supermarket in Ballaghaderreen was officially opened on Friday afternoon last.             The brand new Duffy’s SuperValu premises is comprised of 20,000 square feet and is the most modern SuperValu in Ireland. The supermarket also features an underground car park and 270 car parking spaces. Apart from the supermarket, there are also 12 units to let beside the new premises.             The store, which has 100 staff, now boasts a huge range of fresh food, as well as an off licence and speciality food from all corners of the world. Bishop Thomas Flynn performed the blessing of the new store on Friday and Mary Duffy performed the official opening.             The first Duffy’s store in Ballaghaderreen was opened by Bridie Duffy in the late 1960s and it was fitting that it was her daughter Mary who opened the new store on Friday last.             To mark the opening, a major giveaway is currently underway. 200 lucky customers will win a voucher for €500 worth of shopping. A further 50 will win half price shopping and another 50 will win an outdoor table and chairs set. All customers have to do to enter the draw is to write their name on the back of a receipt. The draw will take place next week.             Asked about the secret of success in terms of the business, owner John Duffy, a local man who has never worked anywhere other than Ballaghaderreen, said, ‘hard work and long hours. We are always open 364 days per year and we open until 9 pm on Thursdays and Fridays. We are open 8 am to 8 pm other weekdays and 8 am to 6 pm on Sundays.’
