Roscommon currently sit on top of Group 3 heading into this weekend’s final group game against Kildare in the All-Ireland SFC but, in this very open group, it is still all to play for.
If Roscommon can beat Kildare by a higher winning margin than Dublin beat Sligo then the Rossies will finish top of the group and qualify automatically for the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
If Roscommon beat Kildare and Dublin beat Sligo, but by a higher winning margin, then Dublin would finish top of the group with Roscommon finishing second, which would give them home advantage in the preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final.
In the event that Kildare beat Roscommon and Dublin beat Sligo then, as Roscommon and Kildare would be on the same points, Kildare would finish second on a head to head basis and would have home advantage in the preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final.
Finally, in the event that Kildare beat Roscommon and Sligo beat Dublin then all four teams finish on three points and will be separated by scoring difference. In this scenario Sligo and Kildare would need to win by decent margins as currently the scoring difference stands at Roscommon (+10), Dublin (+9), Kildare (-9), and Sligo (-10).
Teams who finish in first in each group automatically qualify for the All-Ireland quarter-final and the teams in second and third will be drawn out to play a preliminary quarter-final with the team in second place getting home advantage for that game.
Roscommon take on Kildare on Sunday at 1.45pm in Glenisk O’Connor Park, Tullamore with the game been shown live on RTE.
