Last Sunday’s 4th annual Roscommon Lions Club Charity Walk in aid of the Sacred Heart Hospital in Roscommon town was a great success according to the woman who initiated the project, Mary Conry-Candler, writes Paul Healy. Mary told the Roscommon People: ‘We had a bigger attendance than last year and of course the weather on Sunday afternoon was lovely. The Walk was led by the President of Roscommon Lions Club, John F. Hanley.’ Mary said that the annual fund-raiser attracted ‘young and old.’ One lady of eighty years of age completed the 10km circuit, which began at the Sacred Heart Hospital and progressed towards Mote Park. ‘I was very happy with the turn-out and want to extend a big thank you to Julie Silke-Daly and staff of the Sacred Heart Hospital who supported us in numbers. All that remains now is for participants to forward outstanding sponsorship monies to me as soon as possible.’ Mary said that the full sum raised will be published once the outstanding monies have been submitted. She concluded by again thanking everyone who kindly supported this important annual fund-raising event.
