Fine Gael Senator Maura Hopkins has stated that it is very positive that works are progressing well on the new purpose-built Air Ambulance landing area and carparking facilities at Ballaghaderreen GAA Club.
Senator Hopkins stated: “I have been working very closely with the committee and Minister Michael Ring to secure €30,000 CLÁR funding.
“These works, when fully completed, will allow the air ambulance to land on a solid surface. It will therefore allow the ground
ambulance to drive close to the helicopter quickly and transfer patients more efficiently.
“In the past the air ambulance landed on the pitch which meant that it was difficult at times for the ground ambulance to get close to the helicopter to transfer patients.
“This improved landing area is very important to ensure that our critically ill patients get to specialist hospitals as quickly as possible”.
