Electric Ireland Connacht MFC (U-17) Semi-Final
Mayo 2-13
Roscommon 2-12
Roscommon minor footballers endured a heartbreaking one point defeat in the Electric Ireland Connacht semi-final in Castlebar this evening.
A well-taken goal from Ruairi Kilcline in the 19th minute helped James Duignan’s men into a 1-5 to 0-7 lead at half-time.
However, two goals within five minutes midway through the second half from Darragh Beirne and Josh Carey looked to have swung the tie Mayo’s way.
But Roscommon never threw in the towel and Eoghan Carthy scored a brilliant goal in the 54th minute to level the scores at 2-10 apiece.
Mayo went two ahead again but points from Sean McDonnell and sub Liam Naughten levelled the scores in injury-time.
Then, with only seconds remaining, Tommy Lydon kicked the winning score for Mayo who will now meet Galway in the final.
