Farmers from County Roscommon attending next week’s National Ploughing Championships at Annaharvey, Tullamore, should watch out for the ‘Farmers Have Hearts’ free health screening and information stand. The event is organised by HSE West in a bid to reduce cardiovascular disease. The project targets members of the farming community who may not frequent the Health Service regularly. This screening day enables members of the farming community to avail of cholesterol testing, blood pressure monitoring, glucose testing, a general health check up and advice while attending the ploughing championships. Last Spring, the project visited Roscommon and Castlerea Marts and the events proved highly popular. Nutrition assessment, height, weight, waist measurements are also taken, with follow-up advice. The client-focused service is free and client-focused.
