Health Naturally with Jan De Vries

Health questions answered Q. At first I thought I had a urine infection because I was experiencing pain when urinating, and I had a temperature. However, my doctor has told me that it is prostatitis and has given me a course of antibiotics to help clear this up. I am not keen on taking them but obviously want this under control quickly. Is there an alternative? A. You could try Echinaforce to help reduce the inflammation and clear the infection. But I would also recommend Saw Palmetto Oily Capsules to help support the prostate gland. If you were to take the antibiotics, then you may also wish to take Molkosan Vitality first thing in the morning. Molkosan Vitality helps replenish the healthy bacterial flora, which can be destroyed through the use of antibiotics. Q. Do you have any tips on how to get rid of or lessen the effects of ‘inner ear’ trouble?  I didn’t have any problems until I stopped smoking over a year ago, and up until then I was never at a doctor. I am 60 years of age and I am currently being prescribed nausea tablets. A. Unfortunately, you do not mention the symptoms you are experiencing but if the inner ear problem is tinnitus (noises ‘in the ears’ and/or ‘in the head’ with no external source such as ringing, whistling, buzzing and humming) then you could try some Ginkgo biloba to help improve blood flow to the head and inner ear. If the problem is due to an infection, then you could try Plantago, which has astringent and expectorant properties, ideal for the treatment of infections of the bronchial and nasal passages, as well as catarrh.  Q. My 45-year-old daughter suffers from rhinitis and she says that newspaper print, alcohol, warm rooms and central heating seem to make her symptoms worse. She would be very grateful if you could give her any advice. A. In the first instance I would recommend that she avoid cow’s milk and dairy produce in her diet and takes Luffa Complex and Nasal Spray to help bring things under control. My book Viruses, Allergies and The Immune System will be of further guidance. Available at O’Brien’s Health Food Emporium Lanesboro Street – Roscommon Telephone: (090) 66 34174
