Head teachers visit Roscommon

Head teachers from Northern Ireland were in Roscommon this week as part of a cross border schools exchange visit.             Sister Ann Murphy of St. Joseph’s Convent primary school in Newry, Yvonne Mullholland from Presentation primary school, Portadown and Morva Calvert of Ballyoran primary school, Portadown were due to visit schools in Roscommon from May 16th to 18th .             The exchange visits began last November following a joint conference between the Irish Primary Principals Network (IPPN) and the National Association of Headteachers (NAHT) – the professional associations of primary school principals on both sises of the border. ‘In the context of the recent historic events with the restoration of the Northern Ireland Assembly and the beginnings of closer all-Ireland ties, this is a very good example of the type of co-operation and closer professional working relationships we can look forward to in the coming years between Principals and Headteachers north and south,’ said Tomas Ó Slatara, President of IPPN.
