‘He’s a pure phenomenon now…everyone knows it’s Archie’

Team Archie complete second Dublin Marathon!

Archie Naughton and Team Archie once again turned the streets of Dublin orange last Sunday afternoon as they completed the Dublin City Marathon for the second year in a row in aid of the Join Our Boys Trust.

Group leader and Roscommon Harriers coach, Sinéad Gannon, said that this year’s event was even better than the 2017 edition.

“It was simply amazing from start to finish and very emotional – the sunglasses certainly came in handy! The support we received was even better than last year and every single corner we turned, the roar got louder for Archie. He’s a pure phenomenon now, people spot the orange and know it’s Archie.

“We had a few stops to thank supporters as people went above and beyond to support Archie and there were plenty of hugs along the way. It really turned into finish lines not finish times as we felt we had to thank people for the amazing support and every extra second we got to spend out on course was an extra second with Archie.

“Our core team was amazing. We had a laugh and supported each other every step of the way.

“Everyone who wore Team Archie tops said that they never ever experienced support like it on course. We are already actively recruiting for 2019 and Gleeson’s Townhouse is hosting a ‘Victory Coffee Morning’ for Archie this Friday from 11 am to 1 pm and Archie will be there with the team, wearing his finisher top and medal,” she said.
