Haugh braves elements to win Open

Eamon Haugh (Castletroy) battled strong wind and heavy rain and returned the best round of the day, 75, on his way to winning the 2007 Ken Kearney Golf Design sponsored Connacht Mid Amateur Open played at Roscommon Golf Club last weekend.     Overnight leader and holder, Ken Kearney of Roscommon  fell back with an 84 in the very testing conditions, as did playing partner, Stuart Carter (Mountrath) also carding an 84.   In fact only six of the 27 players who made the cut broke 80 in the final round in very testing conditions over an excellently presented course.   Results: CSS Rd. 1 73, CSS Rd. 2 72 222 Winner E.
