Ultan Harney is definitely ruled out of the Connacht SFC semi-final against London or Leitrim following the discovery last weekend that he has a stress fracture of vertebrae in his back. He will be out for at least two months and is undergoing treatment at the moment. Thomas Corcoran is also doubtful for that match after sustaining a collarbone injury playing for Strokestown last weekend.
Confirming the news to People Sport on Tuesday, Roscommon team selector Ger Dowd added: “We are also concerned about Kevin Higgins who has been playing club games but has a serious knee problem which means he cannot train.
“With regard to the panel, we approached Niall Daly, Conor Daly and Cathal Cregg and none of them could commit for various reasons including work and study. The same applies to Finbar Cregg and Ross Timothy who were approached but they could all be involved at some stage in the future and hopefully that will be the case.
“Dave Rooney and Brian Stack have joined the panel and Ian Kilbride will also return soon and we are also looking at our development players like Hubert Darcy, Cian McKeon, James Fetherston and Shane Dowd who will be training with us over the coming weeks.
“For the championship, we will be training every Tuesday and Thursday and again at the weekend and we have challenge games lined up against Down this Saturday in Dublin and against Sligo and Longford in the coming weeks,” Dowd concluded.
