Last Saturday’s Victory Benefit event held in The Hollywood Bar, Roscommon Town in aid of Hannah Victory’s battle against illness was very successful. 64 players entered on the day, with a very enjoyable blind doubles competition being held.
The final saw the team of Paul Carton and Daniel O’Connor edging past the team of Mick Kilroe and Vera Mahon. Well done to the winners and runners-up, and indeed to all the players who attended.
The Victory family and the event organisers wish to extend sincere thanks to a number of people. Many thanks to McDermott’s darts team and The Holly Tree darts team who both donated their prize winnings from the year to the cause. Sincere thanks to Roscommon Youths Darts who made a very generous donation too, as well as to Sean Fleming and all involved with ADC darts in Spells of Ballaghaderreen, who did likewise.
Over €1,000 was raised in auctions alone on the day. Sincere thanks to those who donated/organised auction prizes, including the Hollywood darts team, the Roscommon men’s GAA team (for a signed jersey), Ballygar Carnival organising committee for a chance to play darts ace Rob Cross, Tibohine Flying Club for their flight voucher, and Sandy Campbell, who generously organised a number of pieces of signed darts memorabilia.
No benefit event could occur without a raffle. Over 1,100 tickets were sold. Many thanks to all who bought and sold tickets. Sincere thanks to those who donated prizes, including Casey’s Service Station and Supermac’s, ROSS Engineering, Corrib Oil, Chaplin’s Barbers, The Lounge Barbers, Petmania Roscommon, Omiplex Cinema Roscommon, Elma Stephens Blenders, Wholefoods Wholesale, Colette Carroll, Mary McDonnell, Esquire’s Roscommon, George Bannon Sports, and David Molloy.
