Great interest in Lions Club Golf Classic this Saturday

There is great interest in the Roscommon Lions Club fund-raising Golf Classic which takes place at Roscommon Golf Club on Saturday.    The Classic, sponsored by Blue Sky Mortgages, Academy House, Goff Street, Roscommon, will provide funds for major projects undertaken by Roscommon Lions Club.    This week Mr. John F. Hanley, President of Roscommon Lions Club said that the response was excellent. The organisers are still accepting entries he added, urging people to support the event either by entering teams or sponsoring tee boxes.    Teams of four will participate in what promises to be a very enjoyable event. The Classic takes place on Saturday, June 16 th next. The organisers hope to accommodate about 45 teams.    Entry fee is €200 per team and a timesheet is currently available. Enquiries should be made to Mr. Frank Nally at 087-9295888.     The proceeds raised will go directly to two major projects: the provision of a Youth Centre at Circular Road, Roscommon and the Lions Club’s Suicide Awareness & Prevention campaign.    Individuals or businesses who cannot participate on the course on the day can still support the Classic by sponsoring tee-boxes at a cost of €100.     Roscommon Lions Club wishes to extend sincere thanks to all at Blue Sky Mortgages for their generous sponsorship of the Golf Classic.  People taking part in and attending Saturday’s major Golf Classic at Roscommon Golf Club are guaranteed some very ‘sweet’ music on the night with entertainment to be provided by the renowned Sweet Auburn.    The 11-member all-female barbershop group have built up a big following in recent years and their performance on Saturday night should not be missed.    Sweet Auburn are six-times All-Ireland barbershop winners and are based in the Athlone area.
