Grants welcomed

A number of schools in the region are to benefit from significant funding from the Dormant Accounts.   Scoil Mhuire in Ballygar is to receive €110,000 under the combined parent room/library enhancement project, Abbeycartron NS in Elphin is to receive €84,708, while Don NS in Ballaghaderreen is to receive €110,000, giving a total of €304,708 under that programme. Library enhancement projects are planned for Ballyforan NS (€24,905), St. Anne’s NS, Castlerea (€54,913), St. Mary’s NS, Castlerea (€38,000) and Roscommon Vocational School (€6,810).   The funding for the Roscommon projects was welcomed by Minister of State Michael Finneran TD and by Senator Terry Leyden.   Meanwhile an allocation of €400,000 for counselling services in counties Roscommon and Leitrim was welcomed this week by Minister Finneran. The following groups in Co. Roscommon will receive grants: ACCORD Roscommon €11,200; Co. Roscommon Youth Service €27,800; Vita House Family Centre, Roscommon €116,700; Beginning Experience (West of Ireland), Castlerea, €5,000; Cuan Aire Family Resource Centre, Castlerea, €16,700; Family Life Centre, Boyle €158,000; Rainbows, Strokestown, €800; The Family Institute, Ballaghaderreen, €32,500.
