We begin our weekly golf round in Roscommon where Paula Connaughton presented her President’s prize to Fen Thompson last week.
Fen won with a score of 142, just ahead of Annie Timothy in second with 143.
James O’Gara (46 points) meanwhile, finished three ahead of Michael McHale in the men’s competition.
The men’s senior competition was won by John Cunningham (36 points) and the ladies’ was claimed by Nuala Costello.
In Athlone the Mixed Foursomes team booked their place in the third round with a win against Portumna last week.
Also, congratulations to the ladies’ Revive Active team which beat Barna last Saturday in their second round match.
Meanwhile, Brian O’Looney and Evelyn Wright were the most recent winners of club competitions.
Castlerea Golf Club enjoyed plenty of success last week with three teams qualifying for second round games.
The Jimmy Bruen team defeated Roscommon, the Pierce Purcell team saw off Athlone and the Mixed Foursomes won against Boyle.
In club competitions, Mamie Creaton, Eamon O’Loughlin and Alan Devine were the recent winners while Mary Kenny and Eugene Flanagan won last Friday’s scramble.
Finally for this week, we head to Boyle where Seamus Gallagher won the May Monthly Medal with a score of 63 ahead of Eamon Perry in second who also hit a 63.
As the competition was also the qualifier for the PGA Tankard, Seamus will be joined by Susan O’Mahoney who won the Ladies’ PGA Tankard with a score of 59. Best of luck to Seamus and Susan when they go to Royal Tara Golf Club in August.
