ROSCOMMON GOLF CLUB Results of 18 Hole singles competition for Sunday 22 nd July sponsored by Bank of Ireland – 1 st Ian Gannon 41 points, 2 nd Ollie Hannon 40 points, and 3rd Gerry Keegan 39 points. Gross Paul Hoare 31 points. Ladies Section: Congratulations to the Intermediate team who are through to the Western District finals in Portumna on 16 th and 17 th August. They defeated Westport in the semi final on 5 home and 5 away match basis. Both the matches in Roscommon and Westport were played in atrocious weather conditions. Roscommon won 4 matches in the home venue and went on to take two matches in Westport. The team is Jackie Maxwell, Linda Maxwell, Joan Hannon, Kay Ruane and Marina Dolan. Congratulations also to the Junior Cup team who won three matches in the home round of the semi final against Portumna. The away match will be played on Saturday next. The team is Paula Connaughton, Mary Lalor, Julie O’Gara, Rosemary O’Brien and Paula Keane. CASTLEREA GOLF CLUB Results of Mulvihill Cup competition held on 22 nd July – 1 st Barry Finnegan (12) 63 points, 2 nd Johnny Mahoney (15) 64 points, Cat 1 James Joyce (5) 64 points, Cat 2 Kevin Rabbitt (16) 64 points, Cat 3 Liam Costelloe (1) 70 points. Sunday July 29 th President’s Prize qualifying round. Ladies’ Golf: The competition sponsored by Mulvihill’s was won by Celia Mulligan 36 pts. Club Prize was won by Kay O’Loughlin 36 pts. Due to the bad weather the Rose Festival competition was postponed to a later date. Golf event Castlerea Rose Festival Golf weekend event scheduled for 20th and 21st unfortunately had to be postponed due to flooding on the course and the weather.
