Last weekend was busy at Roscommon Golf Club with 150 golfers taking part in competitions. On Sunday the men’s competition, which was sponsored by Roscommon People, took place with Francis Noone taking top spot on 39 points in what was an extremely competitive field. Just three points separated Noone and Paul McNally in third spot. Seamus Mulryan finished second and Tommy Grehan took the gross prize. Tom Higgins took the junior prize with a very impressive 39 points.
Across in Castlerea, Padraig Gorham and Valerie Callaghan were the recent winners of the gents’ and ladies’ competitions respectively.
In Carrick the Spring League concluded last Sunday as Leo Mulvey’s team took the top prize with a score of 280. Liam Bruen’s team came second, just four points behind.
To Athlone next where Martin Fitzgibbon clinched the recent gents’ competition with a superb score of 43 points. Meanwhile, Anna O’Brien and Sheila Geraghty won the Granard Foursomes with 39 points, they’ll now represent the club at the national finals.
Finally, Strokestown hosted the ladies’ interclub competition last Sunday and it proved very popular with 56 ladies enjoying the course.
