Roscommon Men’s Results: AIB Bank were sponsors of the 18 hole competition played in sunny conditions on Sunday 4th May. The winner was 13-year-old Robert Fallon, playing off 19 handicap, with a score of 42 points. Second was Seamus Mulryan with 38 points and third was Charlie McDonald with 37 points. The gross was won by Noel Lawlor with 32 points.    This was the biggest entry this year for a Sunday competition and the prizes were presented on Sunday night by Carmel Harlow, representing AIB Bank. The winner Robert Fallon has been attending the junior golf lessons at the club, given by David Byrne, for the last couple of years and he is yet another junior player who has graduated to winning a Sunday competition.    Next Sunday’s competition, an 18 holes singles, is sponsored by McSharry Bros. Plant Sales Ltd. President’s Prize: The President’s prize is continuing with round 2 due to be completed by May 8th. Already through to round 3 are big hitting lefthander Eddie Miley who plays Eddie Moran and Michael Henry who plays Louis O’Doherty. Also through are seasoned campaigners Sean Hanley and Christy Grogan. Round 3 must be played on or before Sunday May 18th. Course Redevelopment: Work is continuing at great pace on the redevelopment of our nine new greens. Most of the greens have now been formed and it is hoped that seeding will take place before the end of May. The new 18th green has been relocated closer to the clubhouse and with the extensive  bunkering around the green it promises to be a wonderful closing hole. A new irrigation system is also being installed and this work should be completed also before the end of May. Ladies Section — Competition Results: The competition played on Tuesday 29th April was sponsored by Aphrodites Hair Studio was won by Paula Keane with 40 points. In second place was Sinead Benedetti also with 40 points and in third place was Marie McManus with 39 points. The gross was won by Mary Seymour with 33 points.   AIB Bank were the sponsors of the competition played on Sunday 4th May. The winner was Jackie Maxwell with 40 points. In second place was Martha Hill with 39 points and in third place was Mary Finneran with 38 points. The gross was won by Ailbhe Farrell with 30 points. AA Insurance Championship: Over the next few weeks Roscommon Ladies will be very busy as a number of AA Insurance Ladies Championship matches are arranged. See notice board for dates and times of matches. Good luck to all concerned. President’s Prize: Ladies are again reminded that the 1st day of the President’s Prize to the ladies (Mrs Helen Sweeney) is changed to Wednesday 21st May because of a clash with a ladies championship fixture. There will be no ladies’ competition on Tuesday 20th May. Beginner’s Ladies: All beginners’ ladies please note that there will be a meeting in the clubhouse on Tuesday 13th May at 8pm. All beginners’ ladies are invited and urged to attend.
