We start our round in Roscommon were last Sunday’s competition was won by Sean McGahon with 40 points ahead of Tom Greally Jnr on 38. Fionn Hoare claimed the junior prize with 39.
The winner of last week’s ladies’ competition was Geraldine Relihan with 37 points. Geraldine finished ahead of Mary Cunningham on 34 points and Kate Walshe on 33. The winner of the junior prize was Olivia Costello with 17 points. Seamus Mulryan took the men’s senior competition with 36 points.
The draw for the preliminary round of the Presidents’ Prize will take place on the 21st April while the men’s Spring Team Challenge is now at the semi-finals stage.
To Carrick, where a Club 4Some qualifier will take place this Saturday and Sunday (22nd and 23rd). The following weekend will see the Murphy Cup Open up for grabs.
Meanwhile, Strokestown beat Glenlo Abbey in the first round of the 9-hole Inter-Club competition last Monday. John Compton’s team face Ballaghaderreen next on May 1st.
Elsewhere, Anne Neary won the ladies’ Easter Bunny competition and the recent 18-hole competition.
Athlone Golf Club is celebrating its 125th birthday this Sunday at the Hodson Bay Hotel. Congratulations to Lily O’Sullivan who won the PGA Tankard competition last week for the second year in succession with a great score of 38pts. Ann Marie Hynes pipped Mary Jo Farrell in the 12 Hole Competition with a great score of 24pts.
Finally we go to Castlerea where last week’s ladies competition was won by Marian Caulfield on 36 points after a count back. Celia Mulligan was runner-up on 36 points with Margaret Henry in third on 35.
Greg Bruen was best of the men on 39 points with Eddie Campion in second also on 39.
