Roscommon personality Paddy Joe Burke – now the county’s Age Friendly Ambassador – will deliver four talks addressing good health, inner peace and passion for life over the coming months.
This unique series of talks will be hosted at the magnificent, historic Castlecoote House. Themed ‘God and The man with the turned-down wellingtons’, the talks will address loneliness, positive mental health and associated well-being issues.
In the talks, Paddy Joe Burke will outline his simple but effective and practical philosophy on how he approaches today’s very challenging environment. Paddy Joe, who coined the phrase ‘The Rossies’, will explain over the course of the four talks how his simply worked out philosophy has helped him and many others to good health, inner peace and a renewed love and passion for life.
Paddy Joe Burke recently delivered a wonderful talk to local schoolchildren in Castlecoote House, an event that has inspired the new series of talks which will begin at the same venue on February 17th next.
His ‘Positive Thinking’ approach is not, he argues, a means to gain fame or earn riches, but is meant to provide a set of practical applications to overcome difficulties and challenges so as to accomplish worthwhile creative values in our everyday life.
He will explain over the four talks how his approach teaches a disciplinary way of life, one which offers great joy, satisfaction and inner happiness to the person who achieves victory over his or her self in the difficult circumstances of today’s challenging world.
Paddy Joe, who ran his own barber business for 52 years in Roscommon Town, will give practical and verified examples of his techniques which will demonstrate that you do not need to be defeated by anything and that you can have peace of mind, improved health and a never-ceasing flow of energy.
Each talk will commence at 7.30 pm and will include a question & answer slot with a break for tea and coffee in the beautiful Castlecoote House.
The first talk – titled ‘Loneliness’ – will be held on Tuesday, February 17th 2006. Further talks will be delivered on Thursday, March 19th; Thursday, April 23rd, and Thursday, May 21st.
The talks are expected to attract a lot of interest and will appeal to individuals, community groups, Men’s Sheds, etc.
Admission for each talk is €18 (includes tea/coffee) with a special rate for all four talks (€60).
