Goal-happy ladies!

Ladies National Football League Division 3 Roscommon                  5-17 Offaly                             0-7 Roscommon ladies football team opened their competitive season with a comprehensive win over Offaly in the opening round of the league in a game that was played at Kiltoom.   There was a last-minute change of venue because the pitch at Clara where the game was to take place was ruled unplayable – however after a bit of mobile phone negotiation the venue was switched to Kiltoom.   Caroline Conway kicked two good points to open the scoring for Roscommon early in the game. Three further points from Emer Casey and Martina Freyne and Rachel Ryan eased Roscommon further ahead.    Roscommon were the dominant force and their first goal arrived after 14 minutes through Emer Casey. Claire Grehan and Martina Freyne scored further Roscommon goals to leave the home side ahead by 4-11 to 0-3 at half-time.    Roscommon had the damage done and although Offaly improved somewhat after the break, Roscommon freewheeled to the finish to record an easy win.   Roscommon next play Cavan (at a Cavan venue) on Sunday, February the 17th.
