‘Tis the season to be overwhelmed, and we all wish we could find that elusive eighth day wrapped neatly under the Christmas tree. Never fear, Geraldine Grealy, (Marketing/PR Manager at the Abbey Hotel), seems to have it sussed. So what’s her secret?
“As a family-run business we are very fortunate to have a very ‘hands-on’ professional management team and a dedicated and qualified staff at our disposal. At the Abbey, it’s all about teamwork and communication, but ultimately about being organised well in advance,” explains Geraldine.
Preparing staff at the sumptuous 18th century manor house hotel is all down to forward planning.
“Tom and Anya Grealy, along with my husband Tom and brother-in-law Adrian, are very hands-on in the day-to-day operational running of the business. Weekly heads of department meetings ensure we communicate the correct information to key personnel to ensure that all weekly events run smoothly,” says Geraldine, who manages all seasonal marketing and PR well in advance.
In keeping with the family tradition, Anya Grealy is, says Geraldine, “very creative, and along with our food and banqueting team, would have huge input into the design and layout of tables, menus and décor”.
Geraldine continues: “The Christmas decor at the Abbey is always tastefully done with festive decor that blends in flawlessly with our old world ambience”.
“This year’s festive decor is already being dusted off with some stunning new additions” entices Geraldine, who invites readers to pop by and see the finished product for themselves…we can’t wait.
While Geraldine confesses she’s “no Nigella in the kitchen,” she enjoys dressing up for Christmas Day Mass with the family, saying “a nice late Christmas lunch and opening our gifts are a perfect way to spend the day”.
