Gaels’ winless run continues!

Pearses set the early pace in Division One

There were some interesting games in round three of the football leagues last weekend. In the O’Rourke Cup, Boyle edged out Roscommon Gaels in a thrilling game at Abbey Park and the town side are now pointless after three rounds of games.

Michael Glavey’s produced an excellent second half display to earn a draw with St. Brigid’s at Ballinlough while St. Faithleach’s got back to winning ways with an impressive eight point win against Western Gaels.

League leaders Pádraig Pearses were comfortable winners against St. Croan’s, while Clann na nGael had six points to spare against Fuerty.

In the O’Gara Cup, Elphin were easy winners against Castlerea while the most impressive display of the weekend came from Tulsk who had 12 points to spare against neighbours Kilmore.

Round four of the leagues will go ahead this Easter weekend with all O’Rourke Cup (Division One) games on Saturday evening at 6 pm.

Fuerty renew rivalries with Michael Glavey’s at Mulhern Park. There is a very attractive clash in Ballyleague when St. Faithleach’s entertain St Brigid’s. Roscommon Gaels will be desperate for a win against St. Croan’s at Lisnamult while high-flying Pádraig Pearses have a long journey to Frenchpark to face Western Gaels.  There is another long journey for Boyle who face Clann.

In the O’Gara Cup the pick to the fixtures looks like the clash of Strokestown and Castlerea while there is a local derby between Kilmore and Elphin which is sure to be well contested.
