Roscommon GAA VHI Cul Camps Week 2 The Roscommon GAA VHI Cul Camps programme for week two has camps in Dr. Hyde Park Roscommon, Orchard Park Elphin, (both football) and a hurling camp in Four Roads. County Co-Ordinator Willie Hegarty (GAA Games Manager) 086 8356227.  Price: €60 1 st child ; €100 for two; €140 max. for family.   Five clubs took part in 7-a-side minor football blitz Last Friday evening week 5 clubs Elphin, Tulsk, Strokestown, Boyle and Kilbride took part in our minor 7-a-side blitz evening in Orchard Park Elphin. All teams got at least three games and we hope to run another one soon. Roscommon took part in Connacht hurling feile Last Saturday week in Dangan sportsground in Galway the Connacht hurling U-14 feile took place with Roscommon having two squads on the day. Each team got three games. In group one Roscommon defeated Mayo and lost narrowly to both of Galway’s development squads in two very enjoyable games.    Our second team a very young one with the majority of the players only 13 years of age lost to Mayo and Sligo. Roscommon had 44 players in Galway for the day along with six mentors, three for either squad. Roscommon coaching and games development provided transport and lunch for all players.  Huge weekend for Roscommon footballers A huge weekend is in store for Roscommon footballers as our senior team play Kildare on Saturday and then on Sunday all roads lead to Dr. Hyde Park as our minors defend their Connacht title against Galway. Best of luck to all parties. Minor hurlers play Wicklow in championship Not to be outdone the Roscommon minor hurling team are in action in the All-Ireland championship as they play Wicklow in Athleague this Saturday, (check fixtures list for time). The team is managed by Damien Lohan and victory would be a great boost.   Ted Webb Cup County U16 team in action this Friday Roscommon County U16 football team will be action in the Connacht U16 Ted Webb Cup campaign on this Friday evening July 6th against Galway CW in Pearse Stadium and then Clare in Phairc a Phiarsaigh the following week.  U14-15 hurling development coaching in Athleague Just a reminder to all under U14-15 players that a development squad hurling coaching session will take place in Athleague on this Saturday morning at 10am sharp. 17 Roscommon players attended Galway residual Academy Connacht coaching and games development once again held their hugely successful residual coaching academy workshop for three days last week from Tuesday 26 th until Thursday 28th of June. 50 footballers and 40 hurlers from the five Connacht counties stayed in the NUIG campus in Dangan in Galway City. Roscommon had 10 footballers and 7 hurlers taking part in a very intense and high quality development programme. All Roscommon players –  hurlers and footballers – acquitted themselves excellently over the three days and their conduct and behaviour was superb with all players really enjoying the experience. Intercounty football and hurling players Joe Bergin, Andy Moran, Damien Hayes and John Lee spoke to the players about all aspects of the game, lifestyle and sacrifices one has to make to reach the top. Roscommon coaching and games development provided polo shirts and tracksuits bottoms for all players going to Galway along with transport.
