Level one football course starting in Roscommon This year’s level one football course will commence on next Wednesday night, March 5 th in the Roscommon GAA County Board offices at 8 pm sharp and will include theory night, Diet-nutrition and lifestyle, strength condition and core, physical fitness, speed endurance, sports psychology and team preparation. It is hoped at least one coach from each club will avail of this course. Clubs are asked to submit name of coach who is attending the course to GAA Games Manager Willie Hegarty ASAP. Football foundation course part two To all the coaches that have undertaken the football foundation course this is a reminder that part two of the above course an outdoor practical session will take place (as follows) for the following three regions: All coaches in the North-East – the session will take place in Abbey Park, Boyle on Monday evening March 3 rd at 7 pm sharp. The mid Roscommon practical session will take place at Dr. Hyde Park, Roscommon on Monday evening, March 10 th and finally for all the coaches that took part in the Johnstown course their second night is Monday, March 31 st , with all sessions commencing at 7 pm. U14-15 hurling development squad coaching session This year’s Roscommon’s U14-15 hurling development squad coaching sessions will begin on this Saturday, March 1 st in Athleague at 10.30 pm. Clubs will be contacted this week with all the relevant information for players who are on both squads. Roscommon connection in North Leinster schools semi-final Six members of last year’s Roscommon U-15 football development squad were in action in last week’s all Athlone battle in the North Leinster U-16 semi-final between Marist College and Athlone Community College with the Marist winning by 3-7 to 2-7. On duty for Marist were Conor Fitzgibbon, Joey Cunniffe, Eamon Donoghue, Jack Carty and Padraig Corbett, while John Murray lined out for Athlone Community College. Marist will play Colaiste Mhuire, Mullingar in the final. Roscommon schools in Connacht hurling blitz days On Monday, March 3 rd in Ballyhaunis GAA grounds Roscommon CBS and Castlerea Community School will take park in a Connacht hurling 1 st year blitz day, commencing at 11 am. The following week at the same venue both schools will take part in a 2nd year hurling blitz day. Code of best practise course for clubs If any football or hurling club would like a code of best practise course for all their underage coaches who are coaching kids they are asked to contact GAA Games Manager Willie Hegarty. The course will be conducted by tutors from the Roscommon Sports Partnership Board.
