MICHAEL GLAVEYS The U-14’s had a comprehensive victory over Boyle and have now qualified for the League semi-finals. Those who stood out in the game for Michael Glavey’s were, T. Keane, K. Shannon and S. Brennan. The game saw the return of James Heneghan and Ian Daly. Also Johnny Collins, member of the selection committee and trainer for the team returns. Welcome Back Lads! Francie Keane presented the cup after the game to the Michael Glavey’s captain, Joe Gorman. The Ladies team had a great win against Kilkerrin on Saturday evening. The final score was: Michael Glaveys 5.12, Kilkerrin 5.7. On Friday June 22 nd in Ballinlough at 7.30 p.m., a charity game will be held for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. The junior team also kept up their impressive form with a fine victory over St. Dominics recently. Our P Walsh Sponsored Senior Hurlers suffered their third defeat of the Championship when two late points, by Oran in Athleague last Sunday, beat them. We now need to win our two remaining games to secure a semi-final spot. The Whelans Quarries sponsored Tansey Cup team picked up another 2 points on Saturday evening against Kilglass Gaels. St. Dominics maintained their composure and fully deserved their victory by 3-11 to 2-10. Declan Paddy Donnelly sustained a bad injury and we wish him a speedy recovery. U-14 football: Our Div 1 Team had a great victory over Clann na nGael on Thursday last in Knockcroghery. This victory guarantees a semi-final spot which will be played in late July. Our U-12 Team recorded their second win in the League when they turned in a great performance against St Aidans in Knockcroghery on Sunday last. It is important that all players attend training, which continues this week on Friday evening and Sunday morning. Our Community Games team played Douglas Hyde on Sunday morning last in Ballinagare and having trailed by two points at half time put in a great second half to win by 5 points. Training continues for our Beginners, U-8, U-10, and U-12 on Sunday morning from 12 – 1pm. TULSK Tulsk Intermediate team will play St. Brigids, in the first game of the play off stages of the O’Gara Cup. This is sure to be a cracker and will take place on Friday evening in Tulsk (check fixtures for clarification) ST. CROANS The U-14 team defeated St. Faithleachs on Thursday last when they travelled to Ballyleague. Credit is due to all for an excellent performance The U-12s hosted Elphin in a sun-drenched Enfield on Sunday. A good show from all involved resulted in a comprehensive win. ROSCOMMON GAELS Sunday lunch with the Gaels – Sunday 17 th June we are having a social event for all members and friends of Roscommon GAA ‘Sunday lunch with the Gaels’ will be an outdoor barbeque style event at Roscommon Farmers Market. U-12: Roscommon Gaels U-12 footballers played the Clonguish Shield Final on Wednesday last defeating Gortleitre from Leitrim in a very close and sporting encounter. Final Score – Ros Gaels 6-4 Gortlettragh 4-02 Training resumes as normally on Thursday evening next at 7pm in the Hyde. Roscommon Gaels club will host two teams for Feile on 29 th , 30 th June and 1 st July next, Douglas Cork (boys) and Bennekerry/Tynryland of Carlow (girls). ST MICHAELS It was a very good week for our underage teams with our U-14’s winning against Kilmore, our U-12’s beating Shannon Gaels and our U-10’s won their three games at the Kilmore tournament and were presented with medals by GAA President, Nicky Brennan. Thanks to the Kilmore club for the invitation to be part of a wonderful day and best of luck to Kilmore with their new facilities. The Junior ‘B’ Championship gets underway next weekend – we are due to play St. Barrys – see fixtures for date and venue. BOYLE The U-14’s were defeated in Ballinlough last Thursday in their final League game against old rivals Michael Glaveys. The U-12’started their league campaign last week with two good wins against Strokestown and Roscommon Gaels. Next match versus Clann na nGael on Saturday 16th at 5 pm in the Abbey Park. Training continues on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings as usual. The Club is looking for volunteers to assist with the Feile Parade on Friday 29th June in Carrick-on-Shannon. MINOR KILBRIDE U-10 training continues on Friday evenings at 7.30 p.m. at Kilbride pitch. Unfortunately, the ‘glory-train’ for our U-11 boys and girls came to an abrupt halt in the Kilglass Gaels U-11 Tournament final last week. Final score: Clonguish 3-8 Kilbride 2-5. Once again, our thanks to the organisers of the Kilglass Gaels Tournament. To organise a tournament which runs like clockwork year after year is no mean feat and is acknowledged by all mentors and trainers as a vital part of under-age football training. Last Wednesday Kilbride travelled to Elphin for the next round of the U-14 League. A lucky touch of a Kilbride boot saw us travel home a winning side by just one goal! Final score: Kilbride 1-11 Elphin 1-8. Next match against Oran is next Friday evening at Oran pitch. The U-12 match against Elphin, proved a good game of football all round from both sides and victory went to the visitors Elphin. STROKESTOWN Our U-10 community games team overcame a gallant Croghan side last Wednesday. They now play Drum/Clonown in the next round. Our U-12 side had a draw and a loss against Boyle and Clann na nGael respectively. They lost to Boyle after a great tussle by 2-5 to 1-5. Against Clan na Gael a last second equaliser denied Strokestown the victory but a draw 3-7 to 1-13, was a fitting end to a fine game. The U-14s had a good win against Tulsk in an entertaining game in Strokestown. ROSCOMMON GAELS County U-14/15 Development training next Saturday at 10am in Athleague. U-12/13 Hurling: Training takes place on Friday from 7-8:30 pm in the Hyde. Registrations will be taken. U-10 and U-8: Training continues every Monday at 6:30pm in the CBS pitch. Hurleys and Helmets available to buy for all age groups at training. HURLING FOUR ROADS Four Roads U-14 hurling team qualified for the All Ireland Feile Competition to be held in Kilkenny. The club is proud of the string of qualifications it has achieved. The qualification was earned this year by winning the Roscommon County final by seeing off St. Dominic’s by 5 points. The team also got to the semi final of the Galway championship, but was unlucky to lose to Salthill/Knocnacarra in a hard fought battle. A big thank you goes out to Paul Fallon AI Technician for his generous donation to the club. We would also like to thank the people who made cash donations to the club. Also a thank you to the people who supported our member’s draw which took place on 10 th June.
