KEVIN’S   Our Gilmartin’s Cash & Carry sponsored senior team drew with Roscommon Gaels in the O’Rourke Cup in Hyde Park on Saturday evening last; final score Castlerea St Kevin’s 0-10, Roscommon Gaels 1-7. As in all drawn games this contest could have gone either way but a draw was probably a fair result to a very tough but sporting game. This team is still unbeaten and are now on nine points and at the top of the league table, two points ahead of both Padraig Pearses and Elphin but we have played one game more than either; the next game is at home to St Barry’s this weekend in O’Rourke Park. See fixtures for details.    Our Clasby Beale Associates sponsored intermediate team lost out to Creggs in the cruellest way possible in O’Rourke Park on Sunday last. Leading by two points in the second minute of injury time a defensive lapse allowed Creggs in to score a vital goal and take the points; final score Creggs 3-6, Castlerea St Kevin’s 1-11. This defeat has left us in fifth place on the league table and with the league dividing into two sections after the first round of games every effort must be made to win the remaining two games and secure a top four finish. The next game is scheduled against St Michael’s away this weekend; see fixtures for details.    10, 11, 14 and 25 were the numbers drawn in this week’s Lucky Numbers Draw. There was no winner so next week’s jackpot goes to €10,000 with the draw in the Horse & Jockey on Friday night next. €40 winners on the night were Damien Webb, Joseph Pearl, Margaret Murphy, Nicola Fleming, Ann Marie Doyle and Mary Caulfield. Tickets at €2 each can be purchased from the usual outlets.    We extend sincere sympathy to the Kelly family, Arm Cashel and Lisliddy on the death of Joe Kelly. CLANN NA NGAEL   O’Gara Cup: Clann na nGael   0-12 St. Michaels   2-4. The Clann na nGael senior had a hard fought win over St Michaels on Sunday last. Clann were slow out of the blocks and were 2 points down after 10 mins. But points from Jonathon Dunning and Mark Shines brought parity to the game. A second Mark Shine point put Clann in front, but the lead was short lived as Michaels equalised immediately. Clann upped the pace in the period before the break and points from Alan Dunne, Mark Shine and Jonathon Dunning put Clann 0-6 to 0-3 up at the break.    Clann started the second half as the finished the first with points from Mark Shine and David Henry to put Clann 8 points to the good after 45 minutes. But St Michael’s were not finished yet and a 2-1 salvo brought back into contention. A David Henry point sealed the game for Clann, to us top of the O’Gara cup table. Team and scorers: Darren Lennon, Niall Mc Manus, Liam Óg Naughten, Daniel Harney, David Flynn, Dara Shine, Niall Lennon, David Kelly, Emmet Rock, David Henry 0-4, Mark Shine 0-5, David o Neill, Alan Dunne 0-1, Matt Scally, Jonathon Dunning 0-2. Subs: Ian O’Reilly, Ross Naughton, Denis Gavin    The Clann na nGael U-10 team commenced their 2007 campaign with a match against Na Fianna. Despite the poor conditions both sides played very constructive and skilful football.
