Kerry Junior star is a Rossie!
Kerry footballer Conor Cox has completed his move to Roscommon and will be eligible to play in 2019.
The Listowel Emmetts man scored 1-5 in the All-Ireland Junior final for Kerry in 2017 when they defeated Meath.
He is a former UCC Sigerson player, whose father hails from Roscommon. He will play with the Éire Óg club.
Frankie joins Western Gaels!
Frankie Dolan is a surprise new coach at Western Gaels. The former St. Brigid’s player and manager was ratified at a club meeting earlier this week and will work alongside manager Gerard Nolan in 2019.
Ahearne in Brigid’s hot seat!
Ger Ahearne has been appointed as the new St. Brigid’s senior (and junior) team manager for 2019. He will be assisted by Darragh Blaine, Dermot O’Connor, Conor Martin and Pat Regan.
Neighbours meet again
Clann na nGael face St. Brigid’s in the U-20 Division One final this Saturday night at Johnstown. Throw-in at 6.30 pm. The Division Two final venue has yet to be decided but it will be played on Saturday at 1.30 pm between Tulsk and Castlerea.
New Coiste Iomana committee
The Coiste Iomana AGM was held in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon recently.
The following officers were elected for 2019:
Chairperson: Kieran Farrell (Oran); vice-chairperson: Joe Connaughton (St. Dominic’s); secretary: Mike Donnelly (Four Roads); assistant secretary: Helen Dowling (St. Dominic’s); PRO: Sharon Kavanagh (Athleague-Tremane).
The committee of Coiste Iomana thanked everyone for their support in promoting underage hurling in Roscommon and they look forward to another exciting year in 2019.
