Fundraising cycle in aid of Sunshine Class in Creggs NS

Donamon Dynamos Cycling Club in conjunction with Creggs Rugby Club are once again organising a fundraising cycle for the ‘Sunshine Class’ at Creggs National School.

The Sunshine Class at Creggs National School provides education for children assessed within the severe/profound range of general learning disability, as well as children diagnosed with multiple disabilities. At present there are six  children enrolled in our class.

At present we are fundraising in order to purchase a Poly Tunnel. With a Poly Tunnel the children could experience growing sensory herbs/plants and flowers. The children in the Sunshine Room learn so much through their senses especially the sense of smell and touch. The Poly Tunnel would also foster integration with the mainstream children and promote inclusiveness as all the children would benefit from planting, pinching out, watering, and caring for seeds/plants/flowers.

Growing home produce/vegetables would also encourage all the children to think organically and embrace all our Green Themes and environmental awareness as we aim to be awarded an 8th Green Flag this year.

The cycle this year will be held on Easter Monday, 17th of April, and will leave Creggs Rugby clubhouse at 10 am. Participants can sign on in the clubhouse from 9 am and there will be three routes: approx. 100km, 50km and a shorter route for persons not ‘into’ cycling and younger people. An adult should accompany any children taking part.

Refreshments will be provided in the clubhouse after the cycle.

Further information will be on ‘Donamon Dynamos’ and ‘Creggs Sunshine’ Facebook pages.
