Mulryan Construction IFC Round 1 (Group A): Fuerty 1-13 Kilbride 1-6
Fuerty began their IFC campaign with an impressive win against Kilbride in perfect weather conditions in Knockcroghery last Wednesday night week.
The opening half was well contested and Fuerty looked the stronger side with Sean Melia and Niall Keenan doing well at midfield. Conor Devaney was always a threat for Kilbride and when Henry Walsh scored a goal in the 17th minute it put Kilbride into the lead and a Conor Devaney pointed free increased that lead soon after.
Accurate free-taking from Darragh Mullen saw him score three in a row from the placed ball and an Eoin Whyte point saw Fuerty go in leading 0-9 to 1-4 at the break.
Kilbride kicked a number of bad wides in the third quarter while at the other end Fuerty started to pull away.
Points from Darragh Mullen, Niall Keenan and sub Thomas Clayton extended the Fuerty lead before Niall Keenan scored the match-winning goal in the 53rd minute.
