Fuerty becomes a Heart Safe Parish

Fuerty Castlecoote Dara Ireland Group was officially launched on Saturday 3 rd November 2007 by Frances Hannon from the Roscommon Ambulance Service. At the Launch certificates were presented to members of the local community that recently completed a Defibrillator and CPR course. The following people successfully completed the course: Angela Boyd, Eric Clarke, Kieran Mullen, Orla Leyden, J.J. Cattigan, James Cuddy, Bernie Cuddy, Seamus Cuddy, Maura Reddington, Trina Reddington, Claire Reddington, Tommy Farrell, Michael Gallagher, Marrita Gallagher, Pat Carton, Gerry Galvin, Ann Connell, Kieran Connell, Michael Hill, Claire Murray, Ted Lynch, Agnes Lynch, Anne Marie Fitzmaurice, Colm Brockington, Olivia Ward, Mattie Ward, Annette McGeeney, Seamus Naughton, Mary Farrell and Shiela Murphy. Five defibrillators have been placed at strategic locations around the Parish, at Mulhern GAA pitch, Castlecoote Stores, Tommy Fannons, Liam Connolly’s yard and Noel Haugheys wall, Correal.   The Fuerty Castlecoote Dara Ireland Group thanked in particular Frances Hannon and Derek Nolan from the Roscommon Ambulance Service who provided training to the group. They also thanked the Glinsk Defibrillator and CPR instructors, Enda Trayers, Tony Brennan, Stacey Kelly and James Shevlin who assisted in revalidating the Fuerty Castlecoote group recently and the many businesses that generously provided sponsorship: Molloys Pharmacy, Farrells 1992 ltd Mill, Donnellans, Gerry Tully, John Corcoran, JJ & Carol Cattigan, Martin & Mary Murray, Seamus Murray, Molly Curley, Mary O’ Hara, Farrell’s Jewellers, Alan Neilan, Ray Richardson. The group are also grateful to Johnny Gallagher and Joacim Dunne for putting up the defibrillator boxes.   Frances Hannon from the Roscommon Ambulance Service who officially launched Fuerty as a heart safe parish and Castlecoote as a heart safe village advised everyone involved in Sport to undertake Defibrillator and CPR training. She also stressed that as many people in the community as possible should undertake the training as it can save lives, a family members life or a neighbour’s life. She congratulated the community in becoming a heart safe parish.   A second training course will take place on Saturday, 10 th November from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. Ciaran’s Community Centre.
