Finneran welcomes extension of Boyle Sewerage Scheme

Roscommon County Council was this week given a green light to proceed with an extension to Boyle Sewerage Scheme to Mockmoyne.             The extension was approved by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government Dick Roche. Welcoming the announcement, Deputy Michael Finneran said, ‘The extension of the Boyle Sewerage Scheme to Mockmoyne will cater for up to 200 new houses in the area and the extension will consist of 800 metres. The €158,000 project had been approved for 40 percent funding under the Department of Environment, Heritage & Local Government Serviced Land Initiative, which targets water and sewage services to support new house building. The remainder of the cost will be met by developers.             ‘This is a very significant project for the area and it will make home ownership much more accessible and affordable to the local community,’ concluded Deputy Finneran.
