Finneran opens new O’Brien’s healthfood store

A new O’Brien’s healthfood store in Roscommon was officially opened by local TD Michael Finneran on Friday afternoon last. The new store at Lanesboro Street, across the road from O’Brien’s chemist, features a huge range of health food products, ranging from supplements, natural remedies and foodstuffs to organic cleaning products. Customers can also avail of the smoothie and juice bar, fresh sandwiches and organic whole foods, as well as a new range of vegan and vegetarian foods. Top names in holistic skin care are also present, including Dr. Hauschka’s skin care range, Dead Sea Magic and Trilogy products. Tisserand aromatherapy and body products are available, as are Bach Flower Remedies, and homeopathic remedies such as Nelson and Weleda. Customers and well-wishers were present in store for the blessing and opening of the new store, as well as councillors Martin Connaughton and Eugene Murphy. Speaking at the official opening, Michael Finneran TD congratulated both owner Charlie O’Brien and manager Mairead Moore on the fine new premises. ‘It’s great to see another outlet being made available to the people of Co. Roscommon. The memories I have of health food are my late mother bringing home cod liver oil. Things have moved on a lot since that and I am sure that this is the store that people will be coming to.’ He praised staff members and said that they were very knowledgeable about healthfood. He noted that Charlie O’Brien employs a lot of people in the town and is now investing in a further area.    ‘Every week you find some new outlet in Roscommon and that’s a wonderful thing. It’s a town of the future. 230 civil servants are coming to the new offices at Golf Links Road and there is a fabulous development at Casey’s and more and more people are coming in to Roscommon to shop. I have met people from as far away as Foxford. The town has a good name and no doubt each new development will help that. It helps the development of the town and county.’ Concluding, he wished store manager Mairead Moore well, noting that he knew her as Mairead Gately. ‘I have no doubt that this will be a success and will continue to provide a new service for the people of Roscommon,’ concluded Deputy Finneran. Mairead Moore, store manager, thanked guests who had attended the official opening and said that store owner Charlie O’Brien was unable to be present for the event.
