Finneran enthusiastic about town’s potential

The official opening of Lynch Flooring at Golf Links Road, Roscommon was performed on Friday afternoon last by local Fianna Fail Deputy Michael Finneran. The premises was blessed by Monsignor Charles Travers.    Formally declaring Lynch Flooring officially open, Deputy Finneran said he was impressed with ‘this fine establishment’ and considered it an honour to have been asked to perform the opening.    ‘I know the Lynch family a long time – we all come from Dysart in South Roscommon,’ Deputy Finneran said in his opening comments. He then quipped that when the Finneran family moved to Roscommon town about six years ago one of their first stops was to McNulty’s, where Gabriel Lynch looked after their carpet requirements.    The recently re-elected Fianna Fail TD said that he had no doubt but that Gabriel Lynch would make a success of the business. Gabriel, he noted, has the personality and the business skills required. He also has a winning smile, Deputy Finneran quipped. The TD added that this new opening may represent the start of a new dynasty in Roscommon town – ‘the Lynch/Mulhern dynasty’ – given that Gabriel’s partner, Anne Marie, runs a well-known Florists.    ‘Roscommon is a town on the move. I believe it will continue to progress. In fact I think Roscommon has only reached about one-tenth of its potential. I see a great future for the town and therefore I see a great future for your business, Gabriel.’     Proprietor Gabriel Lynch thanked all who attended the official opening, particularly Deputy Finneran, his wife Betty and Monsignor Travers.
