FF councillors reject HSE proposal

Fianna Fáil councillors in Roscommon have rejected the recent HSE proposals on the future of the County Hospital in Roscommon, labelling the plan to relocate surgery to Ballinasloe as ‘totally unacceptable’. The councillors met with the executive of the Fianna Fáil Comhairle Dáil Ceanntair and Oireachtas members in the Abbey Hotel on Monday night last, April 21st.  ‘It was the unanimous view of all councillors and all present that the HSE West Executive document as issued to the members of Roscommon County Council on the future services at Roscommon County Hospital was totally unacceptable in relation to its recommendation to relocate five general surgeons at Portiuncula Hospital covering surgery at both hospitals, as this would reduce the capacity of Roscommon County Hospital to provide in-patient surgery with resident general surgeons and anaesthetists.’ The Fianna Fail councillors said that they reject these recommendations outright and gave their full support to Deputy Michael Finneran on his stance on this issue.
