The Fianna Fáil Selection Convention for Roscommon/Galway constituency is likely to be held within the next five or six weeks. Mr. Larry Brennan, a Roscommon-based member of the Fianna Fáil National Executive, confirmed to the Roscommon People that the party is anxious to hold all its selection conventions by the end of the year or “early in the New Year at the latest.” Mr. Brennan said that he was “delighted at the calibre” of the candidates currently confirmed to contest the election. Asked if Fianna Fáil will be selecting two candidates, Mr. Brennan said such a decision would be a matter for the party, but his personal preference was for a two-candidate strategy for the next general election. |
