The Roscommon Lamb Festival Committee has announced a novel lamb roasting and tasting event as it continues to publicise the May Bank Holiday festival. The lamb roasting and tasting event will take place at the Roscommon Ploughing Match in Kiltoom. Roscommon Lamb Festival takes place over five days of the May Bank Holiday weekend. Speaking to Roscommon People last Tuesday the Chairperson of Roscommon Lamb Festival, Laurence Fallon of Roscommon LEADER explained that the lamb roasting and tasting episode will take place on Sunday 6th of April at the eagerly anticipated Ploughing Match that is being hosted by Eamon and Helen Leonard at their farm in Kiltoom. ‘Roscommon Lamb Festival committee will host a whole lamb roasting and tasting event at the Roscommon Ploughing match. The event will feature a whole lamb being roasted in a barbeque style. The lamb will be roasted in a top-of-the-range split-oven cooker that is capable of roasting a lamb up to 28 kilogrammes. ‘The event will run from early in the morning. At two o’clock in the afternoon the roasted lamb will be removed from the cooker. The well-known chef Chris Reilly will then carve and serve the roasted lamb to the public,’ said Mr. Fallon. This event will then continue with a second lamb being removed from the cooker at approximately 3.30 pm. Roscommon Lamb Festival is busy putting the final touches to its May bank holiday programme. The festival successfully participated in the Roscommon Easter Parade last Sunday. The Festival will have a high profile stand at the Ploughing Championships where detailed information of the festival will be available.
