The annual Family Fun Day as part of Roscommon Lamb Festival takes place this Sunday (5th).
The event promises fun for all the family, including displays of rare sheep and alpacas, as well as traditional crafts such as rope crafts, blacksmith, and chainsaw wood carving. The craft tent is always a popular venue and a great place to meet and greet friends old and new. There will also be a sheepdog herding ducks and geese and tours of Roscommon Castle with local heritage guides.
The FAI soccer skills workshop makes a welcome return this year and will prove a big hit with boys and girls of all ages. The climbing wall will also feature at this year’s event and there will be Brazilian martial arts and capoeira in Roscommon Castle during the day.
Little ones can look forward to the Pet Lamb, Bo Peep and Boy Blue competitions. There will also be face-painting in the Big Blue Bus. Circus entertainers from Corvenios will add to the spectacle of the day. Food and ice cream stands will provide welcome refreshments at the event and visitors are also welcome to bring their own picnics.
The Táin Walk will be explained to visitors by members of Roscommon Tidy Towns committee. There will also be a biodiversity display with local Inland Fisheries team. Admission to the Family Fun Day is €5 or €10 for a family.
