The ‘contract for a better Ireland’ promoted by Fine Gael party leader Enda Kenny at the party’s annual conference last weekend was this week advocated by local Fine Gael Senator Frank Feighan. ‘Enda Kenny and Fine Gael’s contract for a better Ireland which he spoke of at the weekend, is about working towards closing the gap between an economy that you have built with your own hard work and the vital services that are lagging desperately behind,’ explained Senator Feighan. Senator Feighan, who was among the huge crowd that attended the Fine Gael Árd Fheis on Saturday, said Enda Kenny laid down a marker to fight for a better Ireland where the health services work, where there are more beds, where hospitals are safe and clean, where children have a healthy future and where people feel safe in their homes. ‘The current Government, ten years in power, have promised all of this many times but what have they delivered – nothing but a trail of broken promises. We’ve all had enough of these broken promises from a Fianna Fáil/PD coalition – it’s time that you the voter signed up to a contract for a better Ireland. ‘I am asking the voters in this Roscommon/South Leitrim constituency to give Fine Gael the mandate to secure two seats in this constituency. This, I believe, will ensure that this constituency will have a minister in the next administration and ensure that Fine Gael can deliver a better Ireland for everyone,’ Senator Feighan concluded.
