Roscommon cyclist Daire Feeley says he’s determined to hold on to the yellow jersey at Rás Tailteann following an exciting end to stage three in Lisdoonvarna which saw Adam Ward take the stage.
Feeley (25), who rides for the All Human VeloRevolution team, was on the front foot during the stage and led a number of breakouts throughout the stage.
In the end it was a sprint finish between Feeley and Ward and while the Team Ireland rider won that battle, the Roscommon cyclist is now race leader and top of the mountains and county rider classifications.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet. I can’t believe it. It’s brilliant,” Feeley told the media following his arrival into Lisdoonvarna.
“I have the yellow jersey in the Rás. If I was 13-year-old Daire and I was looking at my position now I’d be very, very happy. We’re here for the yellow jersey and we’ll do absolutely everything we can to defend it”.
