It was a year of near record land sales for Property Partners Earley, Roscommon –with almost 2,000 acres of agricultural properties changing hands in the region, in what they describe as a “tremendous year of land sales”.

John Earley commented “I am delighted to report an extremely busy year of farm sales by our firm with some record prices being achieved for various holdings of lands. The market has continued to improve year on year and 2018 witnessed the re-emergence of investors for substantial holdings of lands.

“We have conducted a number of single and multi lot auctions throughout the year with a phenomenal success rate and have witnessed buzzing auction rooms on most occasions.

“Agricultural land has been the mainstay of our business for many years and thankfully this year was a huge year for us in land sales with a number of large holdings trading hands for very good money such as an approx. 176-acre block of lands at Fourmilehouse sold for €1,800,000 at auction, an approx. 150-acre holding at Fourmilehouse sold for €830,000 at auction, a residential holding of approx. 89 acres at Castlerea sold by auction for €465,000 and farms at Kiltoom, Glasson, Oran, Ballymoe and Fourmilehouse, etc…selling from €300,000-€750,000 by private treaty”.

In Westmeath, Earley’s also sold two substantial holding of lands of approx. 320 acres and approx 175 acres for in the region of €2m. Smaller holding of lands continued to trade very well throughout the year with the price of good quality lands changing hands from €7,000-€10,000 per acre.

2018 also saw a substantial increase in the number of forestry land sales with prices ranging from €3,000-€5,000 per acre depending on quality, location and premiums available. Earley’s now require forestry lands in all areas to fill a large European order.

John Earley concluded “We look forward to 2019 with great confidence and anticipate that the market will remain strong due to many positive factors at play in the agricultural sector.
