Farmers attend skillnet event

Over 100 farmers from counties Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan, Longford and Donegal will gather in the Bush Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday, April 4th to celebrate the launch of a new investment programme to improve their operations – BMW Smallholder Skillnet. Key speaker at the event will be Damien O’Reilly, of RTE’s Farmweek & Liveline, who will champion the topic ‘Why farmers should feel important’. Damien’s experience in the media dealing with farmers, meeting farmers and covering farming issues has led him to conclude that despite negative outlooks, the reality is that farming is possibly more important now than ever before. Young farmers, the farmers of tomorrow that he has met are well qualified, skilled and prepared to take on the big challenges ahead which will be rewarding to them – an interesting perspective and stimulating presentation is promised!
