Leo Kenny Cup Final Padraig Pearses   1-15 Louisburgh          1-7 Padraig Pearses produced a devastating first-half display which helped them to a comfortable win in this one-sided Leo Kenny Cup Final played as a curtain-raiser at Hyde Park last Sunday. Pearses burst from the blocks from the throw-in and pinned the Mayo side back for almost the entire half and they kicked some excellent points as they raced into a 0-12 to 0-3 half-time lead.   Louisburgh improved somewhat in the second half but Pearses sealed an excellent win for them in the 47th minute when sub Eanna Ryan finished off a sweeping move to the Louisburgh net for a brilliant goal. Louisburgh did get a goal themselves when James Gibbons converted a penalty two minutes later but it was of consolation value only.   If Pearses could only reproduce this kind of form in the Roscommon SFC they would be serious contenders for honours. It was also significant to note that Pearses’ corner-forward Sean Fahy, who was on the county senior panel earlier in the year, scored nine points – four from play – in a brilliant performance. How the county senior team could have done with his accuracy an hour later at Hyde Park last Sunday.   After the game the Leo Kenny Cup was presented to the Padraig Pearses captain Paul Kelly by the Chairman of the Connacht Council Mr. Lauri Quinn. Padraig Pearses: Tomas Dolan; Damien Donnellan, Aidan Fallon, Padraig Kelly; Enda Barrett, Denis Whyte, Declan Duffy; Niall Finneran, Pat Connell (0-1); Paul Kelly, Ollie Brooks, Paul Duke (0-1); Michael Duignan (0-2), John Connell (0-1), Sean Fahy (0-9). Subs: E. Ryan (1-0), E. Kelly, K. Flynn, S. Colleran. Referee: D. Mullaney (Sligo).
