Organisers of the inaugural BallaghDream Arts Festival have confirmed that ticket sales are going well ahead of the inaugural nine-day event in Ballaghaderreen.
Speaking to the Roscommon People this week, BallaghDream team member, Wes Pollington, said excitement was building in the west Roscommon town.
“It is getting very exciting ahead of opening day (Saturday, August 5th). We were planning for BallaghDream Festival for about a year. It’s basically a group of locals, both artists and supporters of the arts, wanting to do something exciting for the town this summer,” he said.
The Connemara native, who has been living in Roscommon for the past five years, said organisers have been working hard over the past 12 months in order to see BallaghDream become a reality.
“It’s a massive amount of work with meetings taking place each week to ensure everything works smoothly,” Wes said.
“The events are taking place at existing venues so there are a lot of moving parts in terms of availability and technical set-up and working with business owners. It’s quite a lot of work but we’re nearly there”.
The public response to the event has so far been encouraging and organisers like Wes say they are thankful for the support.
“An event like this hinges on people buying tickets of course and we are happy that they seem to be selling well. We are beginning to get excited now and we are really looking forward to the festival starting this Saturday,” he concluded.
