Excitement in Roscommon ahead of two-day Festival

There is great excitement brewing ahead of the Roscommon Town Easter Festival which take place over Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday this year (April 16th and 17th).

The festival boasts a superb line-up of Roscommon musicians, who will perform at the newly completed Square from 3 pm to 9 pm on Easter Saturday.

Matt Molloy and Friends are headlining the show at 8 pm, and other bands and musicians taking the stage include Ukephoric, The Blacksticks, Danny Arnold, Matt Rogers & Friends, and Vinegar Bill.

Then, on Easter Sunday, there is live music from Lady Betty from 11.30 am ahead of the 50th Roscommon Town Easter Parade which starts at 12.30 pm sharp.

The committee announced that the theme of this year’s parade will be ‘My Community’ as they felt what we have all gone through over the last two years has highlighted how our communities and welcoming people into our communities has never been as important.

As a result, the committee is waiving the fee for any volunteer or community group to enter the parade.

2022 marks not just the return to life as we know it but also the 50th year of Roscommon’s Easter Parade and also 100 years since the establishment of An Garda Síochána.

As in previous years, the committee is inviting community and voluntary groups and businesses to enter floats in the parade. There are awards on the day for: Best Overall, Best Community/Voluntary, Best Business, Most Environmentally Aware, and finally a prize for the Best Window Display.

Following the parade, there will be live music from The Odd Sox in the Square as well as marching bands, live performers, children’s amusements and plenty of fun for the whole family to enjoy.
